03/11/10 Full Pool Lake Level - 635.00 Current Lake Level - 631.48 Surface Temperature - Lower 50's
Water Clarity - Stained on the main lake. Muddy up in the creeks. Muddy up the Chattahoochee River.
Generation Schedule Today - Around the clock until further notice (subject to change without notice).
LARGEMOUTH BASS / SPOTTED BASS - Good - The Bass are going into pre-spawn and are starting to
move in shallow, especially on warm, sunny afternoons. Look for Largemouth and Spotted Bass to be
moving into the backs of the pockets that have feeder creeks to feed on shad later in the day after the
shallow water has warmed up. The best bait to catch them on right now is probably a Rattle-Trap. You
should work it with a slow, sweeping motion, letting it flutter up and down. Most hits will come when it's
falling. Jerk baits like Lucky Craft Pointers have also been working, using a slow stop and go retrieve.
STRIPED BASS / HYBRID BASS - Good - Striped, Hybrid and White Bass are fixing to start their annual
spring spawning run up the Chattahoochee River. Some nice Stripers in the 10 to 15 pound range have
been caught in the past week on live shad and the main run should get going good in about a week or
so. Good spots to fish towards the beginning of the run are along the sandbars from Ringer Access up
to Brush Creek. The best way to catch them is fishing with live/cut shad on a Carolina-rig. If you don't
have shad, they will also hit chicken/rooster liver. If you prefer fishing with artificial lures, buck-tail and
curly-tail jigs are your best bet. The D.N.R. has been stocking Striped Bass for the past five years and
some of these fish are getting up to around 17 or 18 pounds. Please consider releasing the smaller fish
so they'll have a chance to get big. This is the best time of the year to catch a boat load of Stripers and
Hybrids. Please don't keep more than you need. I still have prime dates available. Book your trip today!
CRAPPIE - Excellent - Crappie fishing is excellent. Trolling jigs has been producing limits of Crappie in
the past week with some nice slabs being caught. Crappie fishing has been best in the creeks from the
railroad trestle bridge north up to Ringer Access. Black/chartreuse and green/chartreuse jigs have been
producing the best. Trolling for Crappie should be good until they start moving shallow to spawn. If you
want to catch a big mess of Crappie, give me a call and I'll put you on some West Point Lake slabs.
CATFISH - Good - Blue and Channel Catfish are biting good all over the lake. The best bait is cut Shad.
Fishing for Flathead Catfish has slowed down due to the colder water temps. Unlike Blue and Channel
Catfish, Flathead Catfish do not like cold water and will remain inactive during the colder months. The
Flathead fishing will start picking up when the water starts to warm in the spring, usually about the time
the Striper and Hybrid run up the Chattahoochee River gets going good. I am now offering fishing trips
exclusively for Fathead Catfish and also combo Striper/Flathead trips. Book your Flathead trip today.
